Pak, India FMs asked to take seven steps

RAWALPINDI: Various Indian and Pakistani organisations and individuals have jointly written a letter to Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and his Indian counterpart SM Krishna, welcoming their scheduled meeting for tomorrow (Thursday).

They have also expressed hope that they will take the process forward to bring peace and prosperity in the sub-continent, said a press statement here Tuesday.

In a letter they have demanded following things:

Implement the recommendations of India-Pakistan Joint Judicial Committee on Prisoners and immediately convene a meeting of the Committee; 3. Resume peace process and Composite Dialogue and make it uninterrupted and uninterruptible; 4. Resolve Sir Creek and Siachen issue; 5. Change the aggressive and masculine flag lowering ceremony at Attari/Wagah and design it in such a way that it promotes peace; 6. Encourage people-to-people contact and liberalise the visa regime; 7. Open Consulates in Mumbai and Karachi.

The letter was signed by Mahesh Bhatt, Jatin Desai, Mazher Hussain, Varsha R Berry, Sukla Sen, Asad Bin Saif, Dhananjay Tripathi (India), Karamat Ali, BM Kutty, Dr AH Nayyar and Zulfiqar Shah.
