Aman ki Asha campaign bags three awards at Goafest

PANAJI, India: The Times of India's Aman ki Asha campaign promoting closer people-to-people ties between India and Pakistan won three prizes at the Creative Abby Awards -- the finale of Goafest, 2011 held at Varca beach on Saturday. The TOI picked up a silver each in the print and printcraft categories and won bronze in the integrated category.

The campaign's creators admitted that doing creatives for the Aman ki Asha campaign was among the toughest jobs in their careers. "I think of all the campaigns I've done, this one is the bravest of all," said Agnello Dias, chief creative officer, Taproot India.

The campaign is a joint effort between TOI and the Jang Group in Pakistan. "Aman ki Asha provoked a debate on something very necessary for people of both the countries, and that is peace," Dias said. 55_7-03-2011_1.jpgThe News on Sunday Special Report: India Pakistan prisoners
We probably didn't need to do this Special Report. Newspaper stories don't matter when it comes to Indians in Pakistani jails and vice versa. In fact, 'vice versa' sums it up. We do to them what they do to us.

Except when the two countries decide to begin talking, yet again! This time a little before the foreign secretary level talks, some Pakistani prisoners were released by India (and vice versa must have happened) and some more were release....read more
