Shahid said that Rotary India and Pakistan agreed with the Jang and Geo Group to help conduct the operation of 382 children having heart problems in Indian hospitals. He said that so far operations of more than 200 children were conducted at hospitals of Durgapur and other cities of India.
He said that extending a hand for the treatment of deserving children was a befitting step as it involves heavy expenses. He was hopeful that other philanthropists would follow the humanitarian steps of the Jang Group and Geo.
S Pervez Shahid in his address said that justice and promotion of education was must for peace and protection in the country. He said that societies lacking justice never developed. He suggested that 20 percent of the budget should be spent on the promotion of education instead of a mere four percent.
To a question, he said that working of government employees as journalists was not in line with rules as government employees were bound not to do a side job. He said that lack of improvement in the education sector despite a rise in fees proves that teachers don't feel answerable to God and the society.
Vice Chancellor Quaid-e-Awam Engineering University Prof Ali Buksh Soomro, President Roraty Club Syed Juanid Shah, Choudhry Abdul Qayoom and Dr Ayoub also spoke on the occasion.
