Renowned personalities of the city attended the sitting of Mushaira held here.
Before the Musha'ira was set in motion, various dignitaries including iconic ghazal singer Mehdi Hasan, folk singer Shazia Khushak, former Pakistan cricket team captain Javed Miandad and Jang's Group Editor Mehmood Sham kindled the lamps and released pigeons for peace in the region.
The celebrated poets of Pakistan presented their kalam (compositions) and won accolades from the audience.
The poets from Pakistan included Amjad Islam Amjad, Iftikhar Arif and Anwar Masud. The guests from neighbouring India included Khushbeer Singh, Shahnaz Nabi, Nida Fazli, Mehfooz Ahmed Obaid Siddiqui and Tarannum Riaz, who enthralled the audience with their beautiful verses.
The poets from India said they are people of love and have brought message of love to Pakistan, as poetry is the herald of love and peace.
The poetry enlivens the hope of peace and broadcasts love, they added.
These men and women of letters from Pakistan and India, in their bid for a sitting of Mushaira, not only amused the audience but also tried to bridge the gap present between the two countries.
