Dr Khalil Chishti lands in hometown Karachi


KARACHI: Virologist Dr Khalil Chishti, who spent 20 long years away from home in Indian jail, will be reuniting his family shortly in his hometown Karachi, Geo news reported.

According to reports, Dr Khalil Chishti has landed in Karachi from Islamabad. He is accompanied by Minister for Port and Shipping Babar Ghori.

Elaborate arrangements have been made by Dr. Chishti's family to welcome the 80-year old on the occasion of his homecoming after two-decade long absence.

Dr Chishty, who had been imprisoned in India for the last 20 years, arrived in Islamabad from New Delhi on Tuesday via the special aircraft of President Asif Ali Zardari.

Talking to media at the Islamabad airport, he said that he had almost lost hope, but by the grace of Almighty Allah this miracle came to pass and he was back home from "a point of virtually no return".

Dr Chishti also saluted Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for his kindheartedness Pakistani leaders for making efforts for his release.
